Volunteers are the glue that bind the sport together and in this issue we celebrate their enormous contribution to rowing.

What gives volunteers the buzz and what do they get back from volunteering? We ask rowers from up and down the country about why they give their time and what they enjoy most about it.

On the water, the warmer weather is coming which means it must be regatta season. We preview the biggest student regatta in Europe, BUCS Regatta, and talk to three of the crews taking part.

What gives volunteers the buzz and what do they get back from volunteering?

We also look ahead to the international season with Martin Cross’s assessment of the key rivalries to look out for on the global stage.

On the coaching side, there are nutritional ideas to enhance your recovery from training and racing, as well as expert tips on the ideal warm up routine. Plus, Dr Mark Homer, GB Rowing Team Lead Scientist, looks at the science behind the classic test of training to voluntary exhaustion.
