Flaming June seems to be living up to it’s name, cloudless skies and waves. The Barracudas (current European Champions) took the week off and went to a wedding, leaving the door wide open for Porthtowan Blue Bali to take a lead in the overall pointscore. The womens crew, the Bude Runners, are rowing exceptionally well and will take some stopping!ADVERT Talking of stopping, backshoots and rollovers……….the next round is at Watergate Bay, Newquay on July 10th, starting at 10:30am. This could turn into a test for the leading crews, with waves often upsetting the best laid plans. Forthcoming events Two final quick reminders – July 15th is the closing date for entries to The European Surf Rowing Championships in Holland on 28th August. The hosts are anticipating crews from France, Belgium, and the UK as well as Holland. Entry forms can be downloaded from the site www.europeansurfrowers.com/europeanchamps And don’t miss out on entering the UK Open Surfboat Championships which will be held on 24th July. Entry forms are avavilable on website. So far there have been entries from the UK Champs: Thames RC mens crews: Thames Titans, Thames Rangers, Thames Telemetry as well as a French mens crew based in Paris and a French womens crew from Begle near Bordeaux.
