Gregory through to first senior single scull semi

Alex Gregory qualified for his first senior semi-final in a single scull this afternoon in Poznan, Poland, when he won his  repechage in 7:29.63.
Gregory emerged from a good field to take the lead at the 1250m mark and was two seconds ahead of the field at the finish.

The Reading University student who is coached by Mark Earnshaw and who is a graduate of the ARA’s lottery-funded World Class Start programme now joins six other crews who have already reached semi-finals here.

A further two, including the Camelot-sponsored men’s four, have qualified direct to finals whilst seven more face repechages.

Tomorrow’s semi-finals and repechage session starts at 1pm UK time, with Olympic-class finals beginning on Saturday at 9am UK time.
